Description
Old stairs with truly massive steps lead to the main entrance on the first floor, sheltered by a characteristic 'bodzo'.
Inside the living shows the grandeur of times passed. Panelled wooden doors lead to a once divided room that could have been two separate bedrooms, while on the other side a corridor leads to yet two more rooms before exiting towards a patio-like outdoor space.
The view from the front living quarters overlooks the hills and villages and the sea in the distance.
The ground floor of the old building was the traditional stockroom, here divided in separate spaces. Later a kitchen and bathroom were added - one can only appreciate the thick outside wall that had to be opened to add these rooms. The kitchen has an open fireplace.
Like more villages on Corfu Manatades is named after the most important/common family-name of the region. And even now that other houses have nestled themselves around this old family home, the Manatos house still knows how to impress.
