THEODORA'S HOUSE, SokrakiRef: 17793
At the end of the alley a stone staircase leads to the first floor and the living quarters. The interior has the feel of a snug traditional Corfu home – certainly with the walls painted in soft yellow, soft blue and soft pink. There is a hallway and two adjoining bedrooms. Outside there is a wide veranda looking towards the village, the hills in the distance and looking down on the courtyard.
The courtyard has a building that was once used as a hen house and store room. These buildings need work but are roomy enough to be turned into a guesthouse or if teared down can give the courtyard an extra 30m2 garden.
On the ground floor of the main building is the kitchen area. What strikes you immediately is its height – about 4 mtrs. This combined with large windows gives the room abundant light. The kitchen area leads into the large storeroom underneath the living quarters – again about 4 mtrs high. Here the word 'sturdy' comes into mind – the vast wooden beams holding up the floor above are a feature by themselves. This store has a doorway leading out onto one of the village streets leading to the church.
