Very difficult to describe and even harder to photograph to advantage, this cluster of house, barn and storehouses forms its own small-holding in the middle of Krini. Recently reduced in price for a second time this property is particularly good value for money.
The main entrance, through an arched doorway, is just 15 metres from the paved main square of the village, where the old-folk sit to while away the hours. A small village shop and cafe-bar cater to everyday needs, and, during the summer the village has its own taverna with sunset views. The famous fortress of Angelokastro is a short walk from the village, and there are tourist shops and more tavernas a few hundred metres away on the main road.
Entering the courtyard, directly ahead is a long, low single storey building consisting of a large living/dining room with fireplace, an area which was once a kitchen, and an old bathroom.
To the right is the original house, a two-storey traditional construction with external stone steps and covered balcony leading to three bedrooms, all with wooden floors, some with new windows and shutters. A further small storeroom leads off the balcony.
Downstairs are two large storerooms with beamed ceilings and stone-flagged floors.
In the courtyard itself there is a traditional stone well, some citrus trees and lots of space for outside dining.
The third side of the courtyard is made up of a huge stone barn of approximately 205 m2 - divided into two separate buildings and a doorway at the other side into another walled garden on two levels, and a second external gate to the village road.
From the upper floor there is an attractive view over the village rooftops to the sea (just) in the distance. Facing west, a sunset view is guaranteed.
The possibilities are endless, either for bed and breakfast accommodation, large family home, or even a restaurant/cafe.
The village of Krini is on the Corfu Trail, the north-south footpath beloved of walkers in spring and autumn, and is popular with tourists exploring the area around Angelokastro.
