We attract a complete range of international buyers across Hamptons International Network, from the very top to those just starting, wanting land to develop or just scaling down. As a British company, the English connections to Corfu and the British love affair with the island, particularly amongst the more discerning, is why this glorious, green Island is appealing for Hamptons! What trends are you seeing in international real estate?
The market is always evolving – and since the pandemic, the world has seen many unprecedented changes! For various reasons, several markets have slowed down since the post-pandemic boom years, while others, such as South Africa, are picking up – and others, such as Dubai and Ireland, continue to go from strength to strength! The wealthy are looking for tax-efficient ways to live and to spread assets, with some buying into residency schemes, such as the Golden Visa, to provide access and options. Investors are looking increasingly around the globe for the best returns and deals, amongst other criteria.

How does Corfu compare to other Mediterranean destinations?
The recent statistics for Greece show growth and in Corfu, perhaps particularly in the luxury market, this has been fuelled by foreign demand. There’s the additional Golden Visa draw too, on top of the natural beauty, climate, friendly people, quality cuisine, and coastlines. We could go on! That said, Corfu property prices per m2, and what you get for your money, can offer good value when compared to some other popular Mediterranean destinations, including other parts of Greece.

What advice would you give to someone buying property abroad?
Do your research, get your money sorted up front and be clear on your budget, engaging early on with a bona fide real estate agent, such as you find in Hamptons International Network! They are experienced at helping foreign buyers and really know their markets. Ask lots of questions up front, so you know as much as possible about an area, property and costs. Get your paperwork together, too.
We’d recommend you get ahead and early on to seek currency exchange advice, and other experts too, as you need them for tax, legal or relocation expertise. This will help minimise last-minute panics or stress. Go for it!
