The Author's House is so named because it is the property where Emma Tennant lived after the sale of her family's beach side house in Corfu (A House in Corfu). In this very house, in one of the upper rooms, she wrote "Corfu Banquet", a mixture of recipes and tales of her life in Corfu.
The property is set slightly off the small road which runs through the well known village of Doukades, and is in easy walking distance of the mini market and 3 tavernas in the centre of the village.
The ground floor consists of a spacious hallway, with beautiful carved wood ceiling, a living room, dining room, separate kitchen with utility room and a shower room. The living room and dining room both have French doors leading onto the vine covered patio, which has steps leading down to the heated swimming pool and garden. The living room also has an open fireplace.
Wide wood stairs lead to the first floor with 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, all looking out into the gardens. There is also separate outside access to this floor from a traditionally styled exterior flight of steps with covered porch.
Air conditioning and central heating are installed.
The facilities in the village are open year round, and there is also easy access down to the main Paleokastritsa road with a good bus service, and it is a short drive to the beach, and to a selection of shops and restaurants.
The house fullfils the requirements of being peaceful, yet convenient with all facilities readily available. Corfu Town is approximately 20 minutes drive.
